Exquisite unique antique bog oak vulcanite brooch! Hand carved bog oak bearing a lovely leaf design on the five outer stones and the center bog oak flat. Dangling from this unique floral shape bog oak is a large teardrop shaped vulcanite. Hailing from Ireland, bog oak is a fossilized wood and is usually carved. The designs can be found in Irish motifs, such as the shamrock and harp, but often castles are carved into pieces. Just a beautiful and wearable today as it was over 150 years ago! The pin is in great condition with normal wear for its age.
